Your child will be recognizable as themselves in the storybook illustration style. We use the photos you provide to create a consistent character and carry that character throughout the book. The result is a storybook illustration — not a photorealistic portrait. A person checks your photos before any work starts, and if one won't work we'll ask you for a different one. Your photos are used only to create your book. They are not used for advertising or sold to other companies. Uploaded photos and the character references created from them are automatically deleted two days after your book ships, or two days after your digital book is delivered.

We check your photos, write the story and create all 19 illustrations, then print your hardcover in the USA and ship it to you. The complete process usually takes about two weeks, depending on shipping transit time. The digital copy arrives sooner, by email.

A clear phone photo is perfect. For the best results: make sure the face is sharp, choose a well-lit photo, keep the face reasonably large in the frame, avoid sunglasses, and avoid blurry or heavily edited photos. A full-body photo is helpful when available. You can upload up to three photos.

Yes. Each story can feature one or two children, with Dad joining them on the adventure. Two children is the maximum because it allows us to keep the characters recognizable and the illustrations uncluttered.

The current edition is designed around one or two children and Dad. Additional family editions may be added in the future.

Yes. Your family dog can join the adventure too. And depending on the story, there is always a chance they become something a little more magical.

Absolutely. Kindlevale books work especially well for birthdays, Christmas, Father's Day, Mother's Day, anniversaries, and just-because gifts. If you are ordering for a specific date, allow at least three weeks.

A person checks your photos before any work begins — if one isn't clear enough to build a character from, we email you and ask for a different one before we start. And if the printed book ever arrives damaged, misprinted, or not the book you ordered, we reprint it free or refund you in full. Just send us a photo of the problem within 30 days.
